You wouldn't know it by looking on the map, but Green River, Wyoming is one of the largest rail junctions in the West. I stayed a motel that's also the preferred layover for the rail crews. Remember, for a train, unlike a plane, the crews can change at night, but the train has to keep rolling. So the crews from Pocatello and Salt Lake and Denver and Cheyenne all swap at Green River. These are, by and large, adult union members who want a good night's sleep and a chance to get back to their families after the next day's work, where the'll see today's scenery in reverse.

This is the railyard in the morning. The shot facing west would have been more impressive, but I guess people were throwing things off the overpass to see if they could hit the train, and the only break in the barrier was on the eastern side.
