I headed from Green River down to the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, which was not named for a flamboyant professional wrestler from Deacon's time. Apparently the park stewards have decided to give a little geology lesson, and there are signs like this all the way down through the various geologic times, and then similar ones on the way back up. As you can see, they tell you almost nothing about when these things happened, and since you're always on the surface, the rocks almost always looks the same. Unless you've already memorized the various periods, eras, epochs, and ages, in which case, you probably don't need the signs.
