German Academics, Dollinger, Kladderadatsch, 1933. One remarkable feature of Hitler's early months in power was the speed with which the academic and legal profession fell into line. This caricature pinpoints the indifference to the overthrow of democracy expressed by many academics. The text reads, "What do you think of the take-over of the government by the national cabinet?" Reply: "I'm sorry, but I have no view, I deal only with the second half of the fifteenth century."
