Turns out that Steamboat is the county seat for Routt County. Fair enough, since this is where the easy-to-ticket tourists are. They already know how to get here, so when they come back for their speeding ticket hearings, they can stick around and hit the slopes. Wouldn't surprise me if they schedule the hearings for Fridays.
