No, it's not a very long tunnel, but that's part of its charm. Rather than cut away an entire side of a canyon, they just put a tunnel through. This used to be a preferred solution. Something called Gold Camp Road down near Colorado Spring is now closed, though, because a tunnel didn't live up to the contracted specs. I suppose there were other routes, and since Colorado has better things to do with its money than promote tourism, you can't drive all the way through any more.

OK, so the tunnel is good. The sign lets you know that if you have a 14-foot high truck capable of managing hairpin turns, you can make to the next hairpin. But what about that white sign?
