If you exit I-25 for Aguilar, and keep going, you'll to a charming little scenic road called the Cordova Pass Road. You'll keep driving along roads of progressively
deteriorating quality, going from paved to dirt to gravel to rock, until just as the road threatens to revert all the way back to wagon tracks, you come to Cordova Pass.
Picnic tables, a hiking trail, interpretive signs. And a nice, smooth dirt road all the way down to CO-12, the "Hiway of Legends," perhaps referring to those who didn't
make it over Cordova Pass. This is a house just outside of Aguilar. Built by someone who didn't like to sweep in corners, I suppose. |
