Just because someone has a microphone and a burning desire, that doesn't entitle them to the position.
Sure, Hugh says he's willing to relocate to Boulder, but do you really think he knows what he's getting into? Do you really think he could survive the relentless leftism of the place, or would he suffer massive culture shock after moving from the friendly confines of Orange County?
Then there's the weather. Colorado's not as bad as, say, North Dakota, by a long shot, but try moving here from LA. I'd give him about 2 weeks of January, or 1 more tree-impeded snowmobile, whichever came first. Remember, this isa guy who thinks you can actually ski in Minnesota.
King, on the other hand, is an economist, not a lawyer. Boy, is that an improvement. Moreover, he'd probably be grateful for the change in weather.
Finally, I think it's time bloggers took a step up to the major leagues. Hugh styles himself a blogger, but he's really a radio guy with a blog.
With Lileks unavailable or uninterested, I've gotta throw my support behind a King who wants to be President. What could be more republican than that?
